Hi, and happy Friday!
Let's get right into it.
β
01. AAP Magazine 62 β βTravelsββ
βEarly-bird deadline: Oct 16 (today!) β then regular pricing until the final dateβ
β
All About Photoβs printed magazine is devoting its 62nd issue to travel, and they explicitly want everything from view-camera work to the phone in your back pocket. Open worldwide, open to all, cash prizes for the top spots plus publication in the print issue (a nice tear sheet). Early-bird is $30 for 3 images if you move today; it rises after. Enterβ

02. PhotoVogue β submissions reopenβ
βReopens Mon Oct 19 (weekly windows)β
β
PhotoVogue's open submission platform takes new work in weekly windows. Submit on Mondays once it reopens on the 19th. It's free, and getting curated onto PhotoVogue is a genuine credit that puts you in front of Vogue's photo editors worldwide. Low effort, with a real upside. Submitβ

β03. Virgin β βHead of Yesβ
βDeadline: Oct 20 (US & UK)
The fun one. Virgin is hiring a βHead of Yesβ β a paid gig built around saying yes to a different Virgin Experience every month (think hot-air balloons, supercar days, spa escapes) and documenting each one as content. Properly paid, open to applicants in the US and UK only, and about as low-friction as applications get: itβs a short pitch, not a portfolio marathon. If youβve got the personality for on-camera and a US/UK base, itβs a dream brief. Applyβ

β
β04. Self Portraits β Group Exhibition + Photo Bookβ
βDeadline: Oct 26β
β
Run by Matt Ford Studio with Zero Nine magazine: all semifinalists go in the Self Portraits book, finalists are exhibited in London this December, and thereβs a Β£500 cash prize for the winner. Open to photographers and artists worldwide. Enterβ
β
β
β
β05. Fotografiska β Portfolio Review
βDeadline: Nov 5
A chance at a one-on-one online review with a Fotografiska curator. Their Directors of Exhibitions (Stockholm and Berlin) have run past rounds, so this is feedback from people who actually programme the walls. Itβs a focused 20-minute session, held online in English, and youβll want a project with a clear narrative: a series that holds together as one body of work, rather than a grab-bag of singles. Places are limited. Even without a prize attached, getting your work in front of a Fotografiska curator is the kind of door thatβs hard to knock on otherwise. Applyβ

β
β06. Walk of Water Photostory Contest β βOut of Sightββ
βDeadline: Nov 30β
β
A properly serious documentary one, run by OneWater with UNESCO, UN Environment and EU backing. The theme is waterβs hidden role in health and sanitation β βthe images nobody takesβ β told as a photostory (5β10 images plus a written narrative). $9,000 in prizes across categories, including a dedicated Youth award for under-25s, open worldwide to all ages and levels, and winners feature in the 2027 Walk of Water exhibitions. Enterβ
β
β
07. RPS International Photography Exhibition 168β
βDeadline: Dec 15β
β
The Royal Photographic Society's big annual open call, open worldwide and to all levels, work selected for a touring UK exhibition and awards. There's an entry fee for a set of images (members pay less). A serious, long-running credit worth having. Enterβ
β
That's it for this week! If something from a past issue led somewhere good β a shortlist, a yes, or even a promising reply β Iβd love to hear about it. Just hit reply and tell me. Nothing makes my week like knowing one of these actually landed for you, and I might (with your blessing) share the win so the rest of the readers can cheer you on too.
β
β
See you next Friday.
